What made you decide to build a bamboo bike?
I bumped into an article, i cannot recall where it was published but liked the idea. I recently (about 2 years ago) started commuting by bicycle to work and thought this could be a nice addition to my bicycle fleet.
Did you enjoy building the bicycle from scratch and would you recommend the experience?
I thoroughly enjoyed it, the advice and guidance was clear, the concept exciting, the peers kind, friendly and enthusiastic as you would in such a situation.
It also brought back childhood memories when we with our secondary school covered old wooden sailing boats with glass fibre/ resin, similar method like the one we used to join the bamboo sticks.
What did you find most difficult about your bike build?
Coping with time as you tried to do it perfectly. Some parts were physically demanding.
What was the easiest part of the build?
The lunches and the beer, you offered 🙂
How would you describe the ride of your finished bike?
I had issues with the belt drive initially so that was frustrating, but nothing wrong with the structure itself.
I am really grateful for the help for James as he assisted me with the final assemble.
To see the bike the first time and sit on it was euphoria, I still do not believe it, I was more taken than when I had my new car (sorry car).
What would you improve about the build experience or your finished bike?
Clarity about, how long it takes to finish the bike.
